Miyamoto Musashi
Miyamoto Musashi is a CG artwork inspired by Inoue Takehiko: The LAST Manga Exhibition, a collaborative project with the Ueno Royal Museum that involved six months of preparation and production. The piece features Miyamoto Musashi, the protagonist of Inoue Takehiko’s manga Vagabond, which has been on hiatus since May 2015.
Vagabond has always been one of my favorite manga series. Rather than focusing on prolonged fight scenes, it delves into the mentality and philosophy behind the pursuit of being "Invincible Under The Heavens", a journey that mirrors the inner exploration of both the main character, Musashi, and the author himself over the past decades.
With the manga’s uncertain future, many fans consider the chapter "いのうえの 満月篇" as the story’s conclusion. In this chapter, Musashi has aged and reached a state of enlightenment—no longer needing to prove himself through combat. The imagery of this peaceful yet powerful moment resonated deeply with me, inspiring me to recreate it as a CG artwork.
